NEW RULES + PROCESSES ON HOW YOU CAN SPEND YOUR FUNDS

With changes in the industry, it is important to be aware of what you can and can’t do. Please familiarise yourself with these new rules and processes and get in touch if you have any questions.

NO THERAPIES FROM THE CORE BUDGET

The NDIA has advised that therapies are unable to come from the core budget unless they are for health related disability supports.

We are in the process of working with participants to get plan reviews in place where needed due to this change.

Please be assured that we are not going to have participants cease therapies if their Improved Daily Living budget is exhausted. We will work with participants and the NDIA until such time as new plans are in place.

CONSUMABLE ITEMS

The NDIA have been actively auditing consumable claims which has changed the way invoices are processed for consumable items.

Many items that have previously been purchased with plans are now being flagged as everyday items by the NDIA. As a result of this, we are not able to proceed directly with the payment of these invoices. These invoices will need to be forwarded to the NDIA so they can make a decision on if the item is able to be funded from a plan.

For many items, we are now seeking a letter of recommendation from a therapist which may come with a cost.

Unfortunately, without this Support Coordinators are being requested to pursue participants for the return of funds to a plan when the NDIA disagrees with a purchase.

The changes that we have implemented are to protect participants from being in a position where they are required to repay funds from consumable purchases made.

APPLE WATCHES

These require approval from the NDIA. We are consistently being provided with feedback that these are not to be funded through NDIS Plans.

SHOES

NDIS will generally not fund shoes unless they are custom made.

Standard off the shelf shoes are considered an everyday item and are not funded under NDIS plans.

LOW COST HOME MODIFICATIONS (less than $1500)

Home modifications including quoting for home modifications need to come from the Home Modifications or Capital - Assistive Technology budget. We no longer have the ability to use core funding for this (with the exception of grab rails).

If participants don't have funding in these categories, the request will need to be submitted to the NDIA.

THERAPIES

Please ensure you continue to code your invoice with the relevant line item for which you are qualified to provide supports. Please refer to the NDIS price guide if you require further information on this.

PAYMENTS

Invoices are generally processed and paid within 4 working days of receipt. This can differ depending on how a participant chooses to authorise invoices.

Please let us know if you require further clarification regarding payments.

REMITTANCES

If you are currently not receiving a remittance and would like one issued please let us know.
